A VERY SPECIAL PRINTER PROBLEM !

A VERY SPECIAL PRINTER PROBLEM !: "A VERY SPECIAL PRINTER PROBLEM !

Hi again, check this:

"
Last week, I was with one of my summer interns in the lobby when a receptionist complained that her printer wasn't working. The intern horsed around with it and discovered a pen stuck inside the printer.

He started to jam his fingers down into the printer to get the pen,but I told him we didn't have time for that now, just put a note on the printer telling folks not to use it and then report it to the HelpDesk.

He grabbed a piece of paper and started to scrawl on it. I left before he finished the note. About 20 minutes later, one of my techs came in and said that he was just in the lobby, saw a piece of paper on a printer, and went to investigate. This is what he found.

PowerPoint - or why managers suck so muck Pt. II

I already pointed out that i don't have a good opinion about most of the "managers". I wrote, that the roots of the problems are in my opinion at the recruiting-office (see blog below).

Well, sure, if we want to go further we should say that a bad "corporate culture" is the problem-starter 4 just anything, but u can't always change the whole thing.

okay* okay

There's another major ass-kicker: PowerPoint - MS PowerPoint.

All important decisions are - at least at my company - based upon Powerpoint-presentations. (!)

Where have all these .doc-files gone* Where are the papers, which really outlined the problem in DETAIL*

Sure, they are somewhere - well hidden.

I found an article about this: "Powerpoint is Evil"

Here are some excerpts:

"The standard PowerPoint presentation elevates format over content, betraying an attitude of commercialism that turns everything into a sales pitch."

"
The speaker, after all, is making power points with bullets to followers"

"
In a business setting, a PowerPoint slide typically shows 40 words, which is about eight seconds' worth of silent reading material." --> Board-Meetings: max. 16 Slides

"
To sell a product that messes up data with such systematic intensity, Microsoft abandons any pretense of statistical integrity and reasoning."

"The practical conclusions are clear. PowerPoint is a competent slide manager and projector. But rather than supplementing a presentation, it has become a substitute for it. Such misuse ignores the most important rule of speaking: Respect your audience."

The Law of Crappy People - or a discussion about how much managers suck

Hi, if i don't write the following down right now, i think i'll run amok in the office.

Does anyone of you brave ppl out there know the typical thinking-matter of a "top-manager"*.

Well, i think i can contribute something to this:

1st we should have a look how this creatures are recruited 4 the job: Mainly i think the all-ruling law ist the so-called Law of Crappy People:

This states in summary that people who are crappy tend to hire crappy people.

(hehe, i was there BEFORE my current boss came ;-))
